What a confirmed status means here

A status is published for one substance in one jurisdiction only when a primary legal source states it for that exact pair: the statute, the schedule, or the national drug authority. It is not inferred from a neighbouring country, from a chemically related compound, or from the fact that a substance is controlled under a UN convention.

That is why there are gaps, and the gaps are deliberate. Where no specific source was found, the page says the status is not individually verified, points at the governing statute if we know it, and is excluded from search indexing and from our sitemap. It is never presented as an answer. A confirmed count far smaller than the number of possible substance-and-country pairs is the method working, not the data being thin.

How to read a country page

Each page gives the legal status, what happens if someone is caught with the illicit form, the position for a prescribed or medical form where one exists, and what documentation is needed to carry a permitted form. Every one carries its source link and the date that source was last checked. Where we hold verified sentencing records for that substance and country, the page shows them: real outcomes from official judgments rather than a description of the maximum penalty.

What this cannot tell you

Enforcement varies within a country and law changes without notice. A status records what a cited source stated on a stated date, which is not the same as what will happen to a particular person in a particular place. Quantity thresholds decide whether a case is treated as possession or as trafficking, and in several jurisdictions that threshold is a matter of grams. This is a research reference and it is not legal advice. Confirm with the national drug authority or an embassy before relying on anything here.
