Is Delta-8-THC legal in Iraq?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified July 14, 2026
Legal status
Controlled — as a 1971 Convention party Iraq schedules tetrahydrocannabinols and their isomers under the Narcotics & Psychotropic Substances Act No. 50 of 2017, so delta-8-THC (Δ8-THC) is caught as an isomer of THC (named vs generic entry left to confirmation). Distinct from cannabis, prohibited. Trafficking is death-eligible; the capital reach of a pure delta-8 isomer is left to confirmation.
Consequences if caught
Zero tolerance; the 2017 Act permits death for trafficking (applied inconsistently); possession/personal use 1–3 years plus fine.
If prescribed or medical
No recognised medical use; delta-8-THC is not a prescribable medicine.
Documentation
No lawful personal import of a controlled tetrahydrocannabinol.
