Legal status
Controlled — delta-8-THC (Δ8-THC) is caught as a tetrahydrocannabinol under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act No. 23 of 2016, which schedules cannabis and THC; delta-8 is controlled as an isomer of THC. Distinct from cannabis, prohibited. Not routinely a capital offence (trafficking 1–12 years, up to 25 aggravated).

Illegal; trafficking 1–12 years (up to 25 aggravated); possession/personal use a lesser term plus fine.
If prescribed or medical
No recognised medical use; delta-8-THC is not a prescribable medicine.
Documentation
No lawful personal import of a controlled tetrahydrocannabinol.
