Is Delta-8-THC legal in Saudi Arabia?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified July 14, 2026
Legal status
Controlled — as a 1971 Convention party Saudi Arabia schedules tetrahydrocannabinols and their isomers under the Law of Combating Narcotics & Psychotropic Substances (Royal Decree M/39), so delta-8-THC (Δ8-THC) is caught as an isomer of THC (whether by a named amendment or the tetrahydrocannabinol group entry is left to confirmation). Distinct from cannabis, prohibited. Trafficking is capital-eligible, but the capital reach of a pure delta-8 isomer within the cannabis tier is left to confirmation.
Consequences if caught
Zero tolerance; trafficking/smuggling of controlled narcotics is a death offence and Saudi Arabia executes drug traffickers.
If prescribed or medical
No recognised medical use; delta-8-THC is not a prescribable medicine.
Documentation
No lawful personal import; trafficking carries the death penalty.
