Is Tramadol legal in Spain?

- Tramadol is a prescription-only medicine (receta médica) in Spain and is deliberately NOT scheduled as an estupefaciente or psicótropo — the Ministry of Health explicitly excluded it from narcotic/psychotropic fiscalización.
- Consequences if caught
- Supply without authorisation is an offence; possession outside a prescription is treated as an ordinary medicines matter rather than a controlled-substance crime.
- If prescribed or medical
- Dispensed on an ordinary medical prescription (not a controlled-substance prescription).
- Documentation
- Carry the original prescription; no controlled-substance import certificate is needed because tramadol is not an estupefaciente.
