Is Methadone legal in Spain?

- Methadone is a narcotic in List I of the 1961 Convention under Ley 17/1967 (lista de estupefacientes) — full narcotic control on an official narcotics prescription.
- Consequences if caught
- Personal use is an administrative sanction; trafficking is criminal (Código Penal art. 368, roughly 3–6+ years).
- If prescribed or medical
- Prescribed for OST via accredited centres and increasingly primary care (take-home permitted).
- Documentation
- Carry the Schengen Article 75 certificate (AEMPS-issued) and your prescription; confirm requirements for non-EU trips.
