- Tramadol was added to the Swiss narcotics lists (Verzeichnis b, Annex 3 BetmVV-EDI) effective 1 March 2023 and is dispensed on a category-B prescription; finished tramadol products are exempt from narcotics control.

- Unauthorised possession or consumption draws a fine for personal use; trafficking draws imprisonment under the Narcotics Act (BetmG).
- If prescribed or medical
- Prescribed as a Verzeichnis b medicine (dispensing category B).
- Documentation
- Because finished tramadol products are exempt from narcotics control, no BetmG travel certificate is needed; carry a personal supply with the prescription.
