Is Buprenorphine legal in Sweden?
- Legal status
- Buprenorphine is a narcotic drug under the Narcotics Control Act (1968:64) in a lighter tier than methadone; buprenorphine/naloxone is used within the LARO maintenance programme.
- Consequences if caught
- A minor (ringa) offence draws a fine or up to 6 months; an ordinary offence up to 3 years.
- If prescribed or medical
- Prescribed for opioid substitution within specialist-led LARO programmes, with structured take-home progression.
- Documentation
- Import with proof of medical need and a Schengen certificate (Läkemedelsverket).
