Is MDPV legal in Ireland?

- Controlled. MDPV is caught by the cathinone generic definition scheduled under the Misuse of Drugs Act (Misuse of Drugs Regulations, 2011); the blanket Criminal Justice (Psychoactive Substances) Act 2010 also applies, and control is reinforced by EU Council Implementing Decision (EU) 2015/1875.
- Consequences if caught
- Illegal; possession and supply carry Misuse of Drugs Act penalties, with the CJ(PS) Act 2010 covering unscheduled psychoactives. No death penalty.
- If prescribed or medical
- MDPV has no recognised medical use and no lawful prescription route in Ireland.
- Documentation
- No lawful personal-import route for a controlled substance; do not carry.
