Controlled. PLANT NAMED: leaves of Catha edulis are brought under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 by the controlled-drugs regulations; cathinone-derived substances are separately scheduled. Mechanism: NAMED (plant).
Consequences if caught
Possession and supply of the leaf are offences under the MDA; fresh khat is seized on import.
If prescribed or medical
Khat is traditional plant material with no recognised medical use and no lawful prescription route.
Documentation
No lawful personal-import route; perishable fresh leaf is prohibited and seized at the border.
