Legal status
Illegal — BOTH controlled; the law bans plants/seeds usable for narcotics and prohibits khat sale, purchase, transport and possession. Mechanism: NAMED (plant + alkaloid). No death penalty for khat: the penalty is 2 years plus a fine up to JOD 3,000 — statutorily far below any capital tier.
Consequences if caught
Banned with modest criminal penalties (2 years + fine), not capital.
If prescribed or medical
Khat is traditional plant material with no recognised medical use and no lawful prescription route.
Documentation
No lawful personal-import route; leaf is prohibited and seized at the border.
