Is MDPV legal in Japan?
- Legal status
- Controlled. MDPV has been controlled by name since 2012, first as a designated substance (Shitei-Yakubutsu) under the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law and subsequently as a narcotic under the Narcotics and Psychotropics Control Act.
- Consequences if caught
- Illegal; possession, import and supply carry imprisonment under strict enforcement. No death penalty.
- If prescribed or medical
- MDPV has no recognised medical use and no lawful prescription route in Japan.
- Documentation
- No lawful personal-import route for a controlled narcotic; strict customs enforcement, do not carry.
