Is Delta-8-THC legal in Indonesia?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified July 14, 2026
Legal status
Controlled — delta-8-THC (Δ8-THC) is caught as a Narkotika Golongan I substance under Law No. 35 of 2009, whose Group I list covers cannabis, THC and its tetrahydrocannabinol isomers; delta-8 is controlled as an isomer of THC. Distinct only in name from cannabis, both Golongan I. Golongan I trafficking is capital-eligible, but the death thresholds are weight-based, so the capital reach of a pure delta-8 isomer is left to confirmation.
Consequences if caught
Zero tolerance; Golongan I trafficking/production (Arts. 113–114) is death-eligible and Indonesia actively sentences traffickers to death.
If prescribed or medical
No recognised medical use; Golongan I bars medical use — no lawful prescription route.
Documentation
No lawful personal import; trafficking carries capital exposure.
