Is Synthetic Cannabinoids (K2 / Spice) legal in Portugal?
- Legal status
- Controlled as a class. Portugal listed synthetic cannabinoids through its new-psychoactive-substances law (Decreto-Lei 54/2013, which annexes lists of NPS families including synthetic cannabinoids) and the psychotropic tables, incorporating the synthetic cannabinoids added to Schedule II of the 1971 Convention.
- Consequences if caught
- Illegal; personal use and possession are decriminalised (referral to a dissuasion commission), but production and trafficking are prosecuted with imprisonment. No death penalty.
- If prescribed or medical
- These synthetic cannabinoids have no recognised medical use and no lawful prescription route in Portugal.
- Documentation
- No lawful personal-import route for controlled synthetic cannabinoids; do not carry.
