Legal status
Controlled as a class. Portugal listed synthetic cannabinoids through its new-psychoactive-substances law (Decreto-Lei 54/2013, which annexes lists of NPS families including synthetic cannabinoids) and the psychotropic tables, incorporating the synthetic cannabinoids added to Schedule II of the 1971 Convention.
Consequences if caught
Illegal; personal use and possession are decriminalised (referral to a dissuasion commission), but production and trafficking are prosecuted with imprisonment. No death penalty.
If prescribed or medical
These synthetic cannabinoids have no recognised medical use and no lawful prescription route in Portugal.
