Legal status
Controlled — delta-8-THC (Δ8-THC) is caught as a tetrahydrocannabinol under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act 1997 (CNSA), which schedules cannabis and psychotropic THC; delta-8 is controlled as an isomer of THC. Distinct from cannabis (charas/bhang, explicitly scheduled, quantity-tiered up to death above 1 kg). The pure-isomer capital reach under the weight tiers is left to confirmation.
Consequences if caught
Illegal; quantity-tiered penalties (small quantities up to a few years; large quantities death/life). Trafficking above statutory thresholds is capital-eligible.
If prescribed or medical
No recognised medical use; delta-8-THC is not a prescribable medicine.
