Is Synthetic Cannabinoids (K2 / Spice) legal in France?
- Legal status
- Controlled as a class. Synthetic cannabinoids are classed as stupefiants by chemical family: an arrete of 19 May 2015 (amending the 22 February 1990 list) scheduled seven families of cannabinoides de synthese generically, and the arrete of 31 March 2017 extended this to twelve chemical families plus named compounds, so new analogues are caught without individual listing.
- Consequences if caught
- Illegal as stupefiants; possession, use and trafficking carry Code de la sante publique / Code penal penalties. No death penalty.
- If prescribed or medical
- These synthetic cannabinoids have no recognised medical use and no lawful prescription route in France.
- Documentation
- No lawful personal-import route for controlled stupefiants; do not carry.
