- Scopolamin (hyoscine) is a prescription/pharmacy medicine, not a Betäubungsmittel: it is absent from the schedules of the Betäubungsmittelgesetz (BtMG). The Scopoderm TTS motion-sickness patch is verschreibungspflichtig (prescription-only) under the Arzneimittelverschreibungsverordnung (AMVV), while Butylscopolamin (Buscopan) is apothekenpflichtig and sold without prescription.
- Consequences if caught
- Scopolamin is not a controlled drug, so no BtMG possession or trafficking penalty applies; dispensing the prescription patch without a valid prescription breaches the AMVV and the Arzneimittelgesetz.
- If prescribed or medical
- Scopoderm TTS (Reisekrankheit) is dispensed on prescription; Buscopan (Butylscopolamin) tablets and suppositories are OTC antispasmodics; injectable scopolamine is used in premedication and palliative care.

- Scopoderm TTS is a Rote-Liste/Baxter prescription product for motion sickness; carried lawfully with a prescription (patch) or as an OTC purchase (Buscopan).
