Is 2C-E legal in Germany?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified July 14, 2026
Legal status
2C-E is individually named in Anlage I of the Narcotics Act (BtMG) as 2C-E / 2-(4-ethyl-2,5-dimethoxyphenyl)ethanamine — a non-tradable, non-prescribable narcotic; it is listed by name, not merely swept up by a generic.
Consequences if caught
Unauthorised possession, acquisition, trafficking, import or production of 2C-E is punishable under the BtMG, with imprisonment (aggravated trafficking carrying enhanced minimum terms) or fines.
If prescribed or medical
As an Anlage I substance 2C-E is not marketable and cannot be prescribed; only a special BfArM (Bundesopiumstelle) authorisation permits scientific handling.
Documentation
Germany scheduled 2C-E by name in Anlage I (added in the 2014 NPS wave alongside the NBOMe derivatives) — a NAMED control, distinguishing it from jurisdictions relying on a phenethylamine generic.
