Legal status
Oxycodone is a controlled narcotic under the NDLEA Act (Cap. N30) — a strong opioid; the penalty for drug trafficking is life imprisonment, not death (the old capital drug provision was abolished and a 2024 reintroduction bill was not enacted) — oxycodone is not death-eligible.
Consequences if caught
Narcotic possession/dealing draws fixed terms; s.11 trafficking up to life imprisonment. The NDLEA Act carries no death penalty — oxycodone is not death-eligible.
If prescribed or medical
Dispensed as a controlled narcotic on prescription.
Documentation
Carry a prescription and original packaging; NAFDAC import authorisation is required for controlled narcotics.
