Is Oxycodone legal in Malaysia?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified July 13, 2026
Legal status
Oxycodone is a controlled dangerous drug under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 — a strong opioid; it can fall within s.39B trafficking (discretionary death since the 2023 reform) but is NOT covered by the named s.37(da) presumption, which lists heroin/morphine/monoacetylmorphine (≥15 g) only — the drug-specific capital threshold for oxycodone is left to confirmation.
Consequences if caught
Unauthorised possession or supply draws imprisonment and caning; DDA s.39B trafficking is death-eligible (now discretionary — death or 30–40 years plus at least 12 strokes). The ≥15 g presumption names heroin/morphine/MAM only — no oxycodone-specific gram presumption is established.
If prescribed or medical
Dispensed as a controlled dangerous drug on prescription; import authorisation is required.
Documentation
Carry a prescription and original packaging and obtain any required import approval for controlled medicines.
