Is Methylone legal in Indonesia?
- Legal status
- Controlled — methylone is a Narkotika Golongan I substance under Law No. 35/2009 (reinforced by Permenkes updates listing synthetic cathinones); originally reached by analogical interpretation as a cathinone/methcathinone derivative, later NAMED via Permenkes NPS additions. Capital-ELIGIBLE.
- Consequences if caught
- Zero tolerance. Golongan I trafficking/production (arts. 113–114) is death-eligible; Indonesia actively sentences drug traffickers to death; methylone falls within that class.
- If prescribed or medical
- No recognised medical use; Golongan I bars medical use — no lawful prescription route.
- Documentation
- No lawful personal import; trafficking carries capital exposure.
Drug laws and enforcement change and vary within a country. This is not legal advice. Always confirm with Indonesia’s embassy or official drug authority before traveling; penalties can be severe, including imprisonment.

If you’re detained or arrested abroad
