Controlled as a stupéfiant — methylone is caught by the GENERIC cathinone-family definition of the Arrêté du 27 juillet 2012, which classed 'toute molécule dérivée de la cathinone' as narcotics (méthédrone was already separately listed). No death penalty.

Illegal; use offence (up to 1 year) and trafficking offences (up to 10 years and heavier for organised supply).

No recognised medical use; no lawful prescription route.
