Is HHC legal in Sweden?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified July 14, 2026
Legal status
HHC (hexahydrocannabinol) is classified as a narcotic (narkotika) in Sweden — added by government ordinance in force 11 July 2023, following a Public Health Agency (Folkhalsomyndigheten) classification proposal of 17 May 2023.
Consequences if caught
Full narcotics regime under the Narcotic Drugs (Punishments) Act (Narkotikastrafflagen 1968:64): possession and use are both criminal — day-fines for minor offences, prison for larger quantities. Same regime as cannabis, with HHC added by name.
If prescribed or medical
No medical HHC product.
Documentation
Named-scheduling route; HHC's hydrogenated semi-synthetic structure was not auto-caught by THC-isomer language. CND placed HHC in Schedule II of the 1971 Convention (in force 6 December 2025).
