Is HHC legal in Ireland?

- HHC (hexahydrocannabinol) is a Schedule 1 controlled drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 in Ireland — declared by a government Controlled Drugs (Declaration) Order effective 29 July 2025, among 14 substances newly scheduled.
- Consequences if caught
- Import, export, production, possession, sale and supply are criminal offences under the 1977 Act. This reverses the pre-2025 position, when HHC was sold openly as a 'legal high'.
- If prescribed or medical
- Schedule 1 denotes no recognised medical or therapeutic use, so there is no prescription route for HHC.
- Documentation
- Ireland used a named Declaration Order rather than an isomer catch-all, reflecting HHC's semi-synthetic status; it was a comparatively late named entry in the EU wave (2025).
