- Consequences if caught
- No confirmed capital exposure — Art. 37's capital penalty is for trafficking scheduled narcotic/psychotropic substances; ephedrine sits in the separate precursor (Group A) regime. Precursor diversion / unlicensed handling: imprisonment + heavy fines.
- If prescribed or medical
- Also a pharmacy/prescription decongestant-bronchodilator medicine subject to sales limits; carry documentation for a personal supply.
- Documentation
- An SFDA electronic clearance permit obtained before travel via the Controlled Drugs System; prescription + medical report + ID, translated into Arabic and less than 6 months old; import limited to a one-month supply or the duration of stay; declare at customs (inspections are thorough).
