Is Ephedrine legal in Singapore?

- Regulated as a chemical PRECURSOR (1988 UN Convention Table I — a methamphetamine precursor), NOT as a scheduled narcotic; 'ephedrine and its salts' is in Part 1, Third Schedule of the Misuse of Drugs Act (Cap. 185); import/export needs a CNB permit. Pharmacy medicine (HSA).
- Consequences if caught
- No capital exposure — a Third-Schedule PRECURSOR, not a scheduled narcotic (the MDA capital thresholds attach to named drugs by weight). Unlicensed import/export: ≤3 years and/or S$10k.
- If prescribed or medical
- Also a pharmacy/prescription decongestant-bronchodilator medicine subject to sales limits; carry documentation for a personal supply.
- Documentation
- Original packaging + doctor's prescription; check Singapore's HSA / apply for approval for personal medication.
