- Buprenorphine is a controlled narcotic under Qatar's Narcotic Drugs and Dangerous Psychotropic Substances Law (Law No. 9 of 1987) — a lighter tier than methadone; capital exposure attaches only to trafficking, and prescribed/personal use is non-capital.

- Drug trafficking is death-eligible on paper, but prescribed/personal buprenorphine is non-capital (custodial penalties).
- If prescribed or medical
- Dispensed as a controlled prescription medicine with prior MOPH approval.
- Documentation
- Prior MOPH import authorisation is required; carry the original prescription and doctor's letter (up to ~3-month supply).
