Is Tramadol legal in Netherlands?

- Tramadol is a prescription-only medicine (uitsluitend recept, UR) under the Geneesmiddelenwet and is deliberately NOT listed on List I or II of the Opium Act (Opiumwet).
- Consequences if caught
- Supply without authorisation is a medicines-law offence; it is not handled under the Opium Act's controlled-drug penalties.
- If prescribed or medical
- Dispensed as an ordinary prescription-only medicine (UR).
- Documentation
- Because it is not an Opiumwet medicine, a Schengen Article 75 certificate is not strictly required; carry the original prescription or a doctor's letter.
