Tramadol was reclassified as a Class C2 controlled drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975 effective October 2023, with a maximum one-month supply on prescription.
Consequences if caught
Class C possession up to 3 months and/or a $500 fine; supplying up to 8 years.
If prescribed or medical
Prescribed as a Class C2 controlled drug (also regulated under the Medicines Act 1981).
Documentation
Personal import up to a one-month supply with a prescription or doctor's letter; declare it as a controlled drug on arrival.
