- Buprenorphine is an Opium Act (Opiumwet) List I substance but in lighter practical handling than methadone; it is also regulated as a medicine under the Geneesmiddelenwet.
- Consequences if caught
- Unauthorised possession can carry up to ~1 year and dealing up to 12 years under the Opium Act (List I).
- If prescribed or medical
- Prescribed for opioid substitution via municipal health services and GPs (RIOB guideline), with take-home dosing standard.
- Documentation
- Carry the Schengen Article 75 certificate and prescription, in original packaging.
