- Methadone is an Opiumwet List I ('hard drug') narcotic, and is also a prescription medicine under the Geneesmiddelenwet.
- Consequences if caught
- Hard-drug possession up to 1 year and dealing up to 12 years; a personal amount is low enforcement priority.
- If prescribed or medical
- Prescribed for OST via municipal health services and GPs (RIOB guideline; take-home standard; heroin-assisted treatment also exists).
- Documentation
- Carry the Schengen Article 75 certificate (Eigen Verklaring) and declare it at customs.
