Is Synthetic Cannabinoids (K2 / Spice) legal in Italy?

- Controlled as a class. Synthetic cannabinoids are listed in Tabella I of DPR 309/1990, which since 2011 has carried generic entries defining synthetic-cannabinoid chemical families (updated by ministerial decree as new compounds such as MDMB-CHMICA and AB-CHMINACA appeared, tracking the 1971 Convention Schedule II additions).
- Consequences if caught
- Illegal as Tabella I substances; trafficking carries heavy imprisonment, personal possession subject to administrative sanction. No death penalty.
- If prescribed or medical
- These synthetic cannabinoids have no recognised medical use and no lawful prescription route in Italy.
- Documentation
- No lawful personal-import route for Tabella I substances; do not carry.
