Is Pregabalin legal in Switzerland?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified July 14, 2026
Legal status
Pregabalin is a prescription-only medicine in Swissmedic dispensing category B and is NOT entered in the narcotics/psychotropics register (BetmVV-EDI, Annexes) — like gabapentin, it is dispensed on an ordinary medical prescription, not under the Narcotics Act (BetmG).
Consequences if caught
Supply without a prescription is a medicines-law offence; pregabalin is not handled under the BetmG controlled-drug penalties.
If prescribed or medical
Prescribed as a category-B prescription medicine on an ordinary (non-counterfoil) prescription.
Documentation
Because it is not a narcotic, no BetmG travel certificate is needed; carry a personal supply with the prescription.
