Is Pregabalin legal in Thailand?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified July 14, 2026
Legal status
Pregabalin is a prescription-only 'dangerous drug' (ยาอันตราย) under Thailand's Drug Act and is NOT scheduled as a narcotic or psychotropic — so, although Thailand retains capital narcotics penalties, pregabalin (like gabapentin) sits outside those tiers as a prescription medicine.
Consequences if caught
Dispensing or possessing pregabalin outside the prescription framework is a Drug Act offence; it is not death-eligible.
If prescribed or medical
Dispensed as a prescription-only dangerous drug through pharmacies.
Documentation
Carry a personal supply with a prescription or doctor's letter and declare it; confirm whether a Thai FDA import formality applies to larger amounts.
