Is Morphine legal in Iraq?

- Morphine is a scheduled narcotic under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017 and is death-eligible: Article 27 imposes death or life for importing, exporting or producing narcotics with intent to trade, reaching narcotic-table opioids such as morphine.
- Consequences if caught
- Unauthorised possession draws imprisonment; importing, exporting or producing morphine with intent to trade is death-eligible under Article 27 (drug death sentences are actively issued).
- If prescribed or medical
- Available on prescription as a controlled narcotic for severe and cancer pain under strict records.
- Documentation
- Ministry of Health prior approval is required to import controlled narcotics; carry a prescription and full documentation.
