Is Hydrocodone legal in Iraq?

- Hydrocodone is a controlled narcotic scheduled under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017; it is not marketed in Iraq. Art. 27/First imposes death or life for importing, exporting or producing narcotics with intent to trade, so aggravated hydrocodone trafficking is death-eligible (140 drug death sentences Jan–Aug 2024).

- Trafficking-intent handling of narcotic-table opioids is death-eligible; prescribed personal use is not capital, but documentation is essential.
- If prescribed or medical
- Dispensed only as a controlled narcotic under prescription.
- Documentation
- Ministry of Health prior approval is required to import controlled medicines; carry full documentation.
