Is Morphine legal in Germany?
- Legal status
- Morphine is listed in Anlage III of the Narcotics Act (BtMG) as a marketable, prescribable narcotic (Betäubungsmittel) requiring a special narcotics prescription (BtM-Rezept).
- Consequences if caught
- Handling or possession without a narcotics prescription up to 5 years (§29 BtMG); trafficking up to 15 years.
- If prescribed or medical
- Prescribed as an Anlage III narcotic for severe and cancer pain on a BtM-Rezept.
- Documentation
- Within Schengen carry the Article 75 certificate (up to 30 days), authenticated by the state health authority.
