Is Methadone legal in Turkey?

- Methadone is a controlled narcotic in Turkey, but there is NO methadone-maintenance programme — methadone is essentially unavailable (Turkey's only agonist OST is buprenorphine/naloxone via AMATEM clinics).
- Consequences if caught
- Possession without a valid Turkish prescription is prosecutable (Turkish Penal Code); trafficking carries multi-year terms.
- If prescribed or medical
- No methadone OST route exists — the sole agonist-maintenance option in Turkey is buprenorphine/naloxone through specialised AMATEM clinics.
- Documentation
- There is no domestic methadone supply; carrying it would require an INCB certificate plus prescription and prior Ministry of Health (TİTCK) authorisation — confirm before travel.
