- Methadone is a controlled narcotic under the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Law No. 23 of 2016; ordinary opioid trafficking is life imprisonment, NOT death — capital is reserved narrowly for collaborating with international trafficking gangs, so methadone is not death-eligible by class; prescribed use is non-capital.

- Trafficking can draw up to life; personal or prescribed use is non-capital (the death penalty applies only to aggravated international-gang trafficking).

- Prescribed for OST as a controlled narcotic (methadone is used in Jordanian OST).

- JFDA prior approval is required to import narcotic medicines; carry prescription documentation.
