Legal status
Controlled — NAMED. Mephedrone is individually added to the First Schedule (Class A) of the Misuse of Drugs Act (Cap. 185) on 15 Nov 2010 (with BZP and TFMPP). It sits BELOW the capital tier: MDA mandatory-death trafficking applies only to substances with a Second Schedule capital quantity, and mephedrone carries no such threshold — no death-penalty exposure.
Consequences if caught
Class A: possession and trafficking offences carry imprisonment and caning, but mephedrone is not death-eligible (no Second Schedule capital quantity).
If prescribed or medical
Class A controlled drug with no recognised medical use and no lawful prescription route.
Documentation
No licit personal-carry or import route for a Class A drug.
