Is Kratom legal in Sweden?

- Kratom is controlled in Sweden through mitragynine, classified as a health-hazardous substance/narcotic by Lakemedelsverket in 2011; whole-leaf Mitragyna speciosa is caught as its natural source, so kratom is effectively banned.
- Consequences if caught
- Narcotics offences under the Narcotics Control Act: a minor (ringa) offence draws a fine or up to 6 months, an ordinary offence up to 3 years.
- If prescribed or medical
- No lawful medical route — mitragynine is not used in Swedish healthcare and there is no licensed product.
- Documentation
- No lawful personal-import route for a controlled narcotic not in medical use.
