Is Delta-8-THC legal in China?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified July 14, 2026
Legal status
Controlled — delta-8-THC (Δ8-THC) is caught as a tetrahydrocannabinol under China's list of controlled narcotic/psychotropic substances, which schedules THC and its isomers; delta-8 is controlled as an isomer of THC (and synthetically produced delta-8 also intersects China's 2021 class-wide synthetic-cannabinoid scheduling). Distinct from plant cannabis. Capital exposure runs via the Criminal Law Art. 347 large-quantity catch-all, but no delta-8-specific capital threshold is published (left to confirmation).
Consequences if caught
Zero tolerance; Art. 347 large-quantity trafficking can be capital and reaches scheduled psychotropics, but no delta-8-specific capital-conversion quantity is published.
If prescribed or medical
No recognised medical use; delta-8-THC is not a prescribable medicine.
Documentation
No lawful personal import; large-quantity trafficking can be capital.
