Is Buprenorphine legal in Turkey?

- Buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone) — internationally a 1971 Schedule III opioid, a lighter tier than methadone — is a controlled narcotic dispensed on prescription under TİTCK control; approved in 2010, it is the ONLY agonist opioid-substitution medicine in Turkey (there is no methadone maintenance programme).

- Possession without a valid Turkish prescription is prosecutable (Turkish Penal Code); trafficking carries multi-year terms.
- If prescribed or medical
- Prescribed for opioid substitution only through specialised hospital AMATEM clinics; take-home is limited.
- Documentation
- Personal supply needs a prescription plus a doctor's report and INCB certificate; confirm with TİTCK before travel.
