Tramadol is a Schedule 4 (Prescription Only) medicine under the Poisons Standard (SUSMP), listed in Appendix D (S4D) since 1 February 2018 — confirmed Schedule 4, not Schedule 8.
Consequences if caught
Possessing a Schedule 4 medicine without a prescription is an offence under state law.
If prescribed or medical
Prescribed as a Schedule 4 (Appendix D) prescription-only medicine.
Documentation
The Traveller's Exemption allows roughly a 3-month supply carried with a prescription or doctor's letter, in original packaging.
