Legality · Scopolamine (Devil's Breath)

Is Scopolamine (Devil's Breath) legal in Sweden?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified July 14, 2026
Legal status
Scopolamine (skopolamin, hyoscine) is a registered medicine, not a narkotika: Scopoderm patches and butylskopolamin (Buscopan) are registered with Läkemedelsverket and do not appear on the narcotics classification lists. The Scopoderm motion-sickness patch is receptbelagt (prescription).
Consequences if caught
Skopolamin attracts no narkotikastrafflag penalty; dispensing the receptbelagt patch without a prescription breaches medicines law only.
If prescribed or medical
The Scopoderm patch is prescribed for motion/travel sickness; butylskopolamin (Buscopan) is dispensed for spasm; injectable scopolamine is used in premedication and palliative care.
Documentation
Scopoderm and butylskopolamin products are listed in the Läkemedelsverket medicines-facts register; carried lawfully with a prescription.
