Is Quetiapine legal in Portugal?

- Quetiapine is an authorised prescription medicine (medicamento sujeito a receita medica), not a controlled substance: Seroquel and quetiapina generics hold Infarmed marketing authorisation and are not listed in the Decreto-Lei 15/93 narcotics/psychotropics tables.
- Consequences if caught
- No controlled-drug penalty attaches to quetiapine; unauthorised supply of a prescription medicine is a medicines-law matter, not a trafficking offence.
- If prescribed or medical
- Prescribed as an atypical antipsychotic for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder; dispensed only on prescription.
- Documentation
- Quetiapine appears on the EMA list of nationally authorised quetiapine medicinal products covering Portugal; carried lawfully with a prescription.
