Is Quetiapine legal in France?

- Quetiapine is a prescription medicine (medicament soumis a prescription medicale), not a stupefiant or psychotrope: quetiapine products (Xeroquel LP and generics) hold ANSM marketing authorisation and do not figure on the narcotics/psychotropics lists of the Code de la sante publique.
- Consequences if caught
- Quetiapine carries no narcotics-law penalty; supply outside the pharmacy prescription circuit is a medicines-regulation breach rather than a stupefiants offence.
- If prescribed or medical
- Prescribed as an atypical antipsychotic for schizophrenia, bipolar mania and bipolar depression under ANSM-authorised indications.
- Documentation
- Quetiapine formulations appear in the ANSM base de donnees publique des medicaments; travellers carry them with a prescription.
