- 25I-NBOMe is classified as a stupefiant (narcotic) in France; it was subjected to EU-wide control by Council Implementing Decision 2014/688/EU of 25 September 2014 and listed in Schedule I of the 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances in March 2015.

- Use, possession, transport and trafficking of a stupefiant are offences under the Public Health Code; trafficking carries heavy imprisonment and fines.
