Legality · Pregabalin

Is Pregabalin legal in Singapore?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified July 14, 2026
Legal status
Pregabalin is a Prescription-Only Medicine (POM) under Singapore's Health Products Act and is NOT a controlled drug or psychotropic substance under the Misuse of Drugs Act — so, unlike genuine MDA controlled drugs, it carries no trafficking or capital exposure and is treated as a prescription medicine (as is gabapentin).
Consequences if caught
Unauthorised supply or possession of a POM draws a fine and/or imprisonment under the medicines/poisons regime; pregabalin is not death-eligible.
If prescribed or medical
Dispensed as a Prescription-Only Medicine.
Documentation
Carry it in original packaging with a valid prescription or doctor's letter for personal use only, and declare it on the HSA personal-medication check.
