Is MXE legal in Switzerland?

- MXE (methoxetamine) is a controlled narcotic in Switzerland, listed by the Federal Department of Home Affairs in the Betäubungsmittelverzeichnisverordnung (BetmVV-EDI) under the Narcotics Act (BetmG) since it was scheduled in 2011 as a prohibited arylcyclohexylamine substance with no authorised medical use.
- Consequences if caught
- Unauthorised possession, trafficking and import of MXE are offences under the Betäubungsmittelgesetz (BetmG), with trafficking carrying custodial sentences.
- If prescribed or medical
- MXE has no authorised medicinal product in Switzerland and is not prescribable (unlike ketamine, an authorised narcotic-medicine in Verzeichnis b).
- Documentation
- No legal supply channel exists; MXE bought online is an illicit import subject to seizure by Swiss customs.
